Comprehensive Family Vision Care

Eye Mart Family Vision Care offers complete, primary eye care for your entire family. Preventative, routine eye exams are important to maintaining the health of your eyes. Often, problems with vision do not have obvious symptoms or signs but can be easily diagnosed by a doctor. By catching these issues early, we are able to provide treatment options and potentially restore or prevent vision loss. We recommend that you have eye exams annually.

Eye Exams, Vision Testing, and Eye Functionality

During your eye exam, Dr. Goodman will ask you about any symptoms or issues you’re experiencing, any medications you are on, your work environment and your overall health, including family history and any previous conditions. Regular vision tests will ensure you are seeing as clearly as possible. Dr. Goodman will measure your vision through a wall eye chart and a reading eye chart. Depending on the results, you may be prescribed corrective glasses, contacts, or eye exercises.

Our eye exams involve testing your eye functionality. This includes depth perception, color vision, eye muscle capabilities, peripheral vision, and responsiveness to light are all checked. As needed, additional tests are used to determine whether your eyes are focusing, moving, and working together correctly.

Your Overall Eye Health

The overall health of your eyes will be checked through a visual examination and tonometry as part of our regular exam. Dr. Goodman will evaluate your eye health by visually inspecting your eye and eyelids. Dilating your pupils helps to examine the internal structure of your eye. Increased eye pressure can be an indicator of glaucoma, so tonometry is used to measure this. We’ll also check for any foreign bodies that may have entered around your eyes and can remove them if necessary. Also, if further medical attention is required, we can refer you to a local ophthalmologist that we are affiliated with.

Glasses and Contacts

If you need corrective lenses, we carry every brand of contacts here at Eye Mart Family Vision Care. Rebates are available for contact lenses – ask for more information during your visit. There are 1,500 glasses frames made by the most popular, fashionable name brands on display in our office for you to choose from. We can write and fill your prescription as well.

Evaluation and Referral for Laser Eye Surgery

Eye Mart Family Vision Care offers pre and post-operative care for patients undergoing LASIK eye surgery or similar procedures. LASIK surgery uses the latest advancements in technology to treat myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, and other eye conditions. Our practice provides evaluations and referrals for patients who are interested in LASIK surgery.

Dr. Goodman will perform a complete review of your eye health and vision, as well as patient history. You will need a current exam to determine if you are a candidate for LASIK. Once it has been determined if LASIK is right for you, you’ll be given a referral to a local LASIK surgery center we are affiliated with. There, you will receive advanced diagnostic testing and further evaluation. Our practice will be in correspondence with the center to learn the results of your evaluation and status.

Post-Operative Care

After your surgery, we’ll schedule follow-up care for you at our office. You will usually begin these appointments the day after your surgery and continue regularly for the next six months. Having a full exam is recommended after one year to determine the long-term results from the procedure. We’re here to answer any questions you may have.

Why Choose LASIK Surgery?

Tired of glasses or contacts? You may want to consider LASIK. Not everyone is a candidate for this surgery. If you play sports, have allergies, or are looking for simplicity in your life, you may benefit from LASIK. Surgery is also a good option for individuals dealing with cataracts. If you have any questions about LASIK, feel free to contact our Louisville or Jackson office.
